Pepperl+Fuchs 1-channel ATEX Zener Barriers (most notably the Z-System series, such as the Z715, Z728, and Z787 models) are passive intrinsically safe (Ex i) safety interfaces. They limit the electrical energy (voltage, current, and total power) transferred from a safe area (control cabinet) into hazardous areas (ATEX Zone 0, 1, 2 or Zone 20, 21, 22) to prevent sparks or thermal ignition of explosive gas or dust atmospheres.
